Target CEO: $7 billion investment in stores and technology is paying off
It was the equivalent of standing on stage and being pummeled with tomatoes. That’s how investors reacted two years ago when Target Corp. Chief Executive Brian Cornell stood before them in a cavernous New York City ballroom and unveiled a three-year plan. The company would spend $7 billion in capital and $1 billion a year […]
Target Santa Barbara to Open in April
The long-anticipated Target on upper State will open April 7, the company announced on Tuesday. To select up to 80 potential “team members” for the store, a hiring fair takes place February 4 and 5 at the Pepper Tree Inn (3850 State St.), 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (See target.com/careers for more.) Santa Barbara’s new Target, located at what’s known as The Galleria at State and La Cumbre, is a smaller-format store and will hold a “curated” assortment of baby and kids’ products, women’s and men’s clothing, beauty products, food and beverages, and portable tech. Out at the former Kmart location in Goleta, renovations for a full-size Target are ongoing, with an opening slated for later this year.
$25.4M Fresno lease tops 2018 real estate deals
At a cost of more than $24.4 million, you might expect that in the Valley’s most expensive real estate transaction of 2018, you’d get to keep the building. Not that there’s any building up yet on the 20-acre parcel slated to become Phase 2 of the Marketplace at El Paseo shopping center south of West Herndon Avenue and North Riverside Drive. Currently there’s Phase 1 of the shopping center, which includes Target, Old Navy, Tillys and Burlington stores.
New burger chain headed to Fresno’s El Paseo Marketplace
A new hamburger chain has been finalized for phase two of the El Paseo Marketplace development in northwest Fresno. Wayback Burgers, an international restaurant with locations from Chowchilla to Brunei, is projected to arrive in Fresno by late 2019 or early 2020, according to Chris Shane, managing partner and founder of Gryphon Capital. Gryphon Capital is the development agency working on El Paseo Marketplace.
Target on La Cumbre Delayed Until 2019
The new Target store location on La Cumbre will be delayed until the Spring of 2019. In January, the Target Corporation announced it would take over the former Galleria location at the corner of La Cumbre and State Street to create a "small format" store. The company quickly began construction and stated a plan to open in October 2018.
