Dunkin' opens store near Placerville

For more than two years, we've been following the progress of a planned Dunkin' store in the Prospector's Plaza retail center near Placerville. Update: The doughnut shop at 3970 Missouri Flat Road is now open.

The new store features both Dunkin' and ice cream chain Baskin-Robbins. It's located in a Target-anchored retail center at Highway 50 and Missouri Flat Road. Some other tenants in the center include Jersey Mike's, Habit Burger & Grill and Save Mart.

Dunkin' has at least five other locations in the Sacramento area, according to its website.

Geisthaus Brewing Co. is nearly finished with construction of its new brewery and taproom in Sacramento's Rosemont neighborhood, a project that has been years in the making.

Plans were first filed in September 2022 for the project being spearheaded by business partners Brady Jones, Benjamin Allgood and Brian Mackie. The brewery and taproom, which will primarily focus on producing lagers, is filling an approximately 6,900-square-foot building at 9584 Micron Ave. ⏤ a building that has housed various restaurants over the years.

Though hiccups from a California state budget in deficit delayed the process, the goal of getting a new hotel in Old Sacramento is still moving forward, according to California State Parks.

John Fraser, a district superintendent for state parks, said a request for proposals for a hotel of up to five stories and 170 rooms should be released within the next year.

Carmichael apartments sold for first time since built

New owners of a 138-unit apartment property in Carmichael may face some need for updated decor, unless they're big fans of untouched midcentury modern architecture.

For the first time since they were built in 1969, Courtyard Apartments sold recently to an investor based in the Bay Area, according to brokers at Marcus & MIllichap.

"It is highly unusual to hold on to a building for that long," said Tony DeLoney, one of three brokers on the sale. "Usually the depreciation period is 30 years, but the owner here just lived on the cash flow."

Senior Reporter Ben van der Meer has details about the sale of Courtyard Apartments in Carmichael.

Have a great weekend, folks. Thanks for reading.
