Maurices opens Fresno store
The Business Journal — March 28, 2014
Maurices, a fast-growing women’s clothing store, has opened a Fresno store in Marketplace at El Paseo, 6599 N. Riverside Drive in Fresno.
It is the 900th store built for the chain and the 13th in California. Maurices also has stores in Visalia, Hanford and Clovis.
The Fresno store has 10 employees, two full-time and eight part-time.
It is a milestone for the women’s fashion clothing provider that started with a small retail store in downtown Duluth, Minn.
Maurices will open 60 new stores and will operate more than 925 stores in 46 states and Canada by the end of its fiscal year in July. In addition to new store openings, Maurices is remodeling or expanding 80 stores this year with an inspiring new look to keep the fast growing chain fresh.
The company's long-term goal is to reach more than 1,200 stores domestically and 100 stores in Canada.
"We're thrilled with the growth of our stores and e-commerce business and the continued demand for Maurices, said George Goldfarb, president of Maurices, in a release.
Over the past five years, Maurices has opened more than 250 stores and has seen 65 percent sales growth.
Maurices is a subsidiary of Ascena Retail Group, Inc., which includes Catherines, Dressbarn, Justice and Lane Bryant.
