Shopping Center in Clovis Coming Back to Life
ABC 30 — March 12, 2016
CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- New life has come back to an older shopping complex in Clovis. The Trading Post, located at Clovis and Herndon, has a new look after new anchor stores went up. Business owners are reacting to the changes.
The Trading Post shopping center in Clovis is now filled with cars and bustling with activity after being nearly empty for eight years.
"I think it's great. Its come a long ways, and it's wonderful to have Sprouts here-- and Ross. Its really improved," said Patty Vanderdussen, Fresno.
Valley residents have been shopping at the complex since it was made over and new stores set up residence. Judy's Donuts has been in the shopping center for 20 years and owners are happy with the transformation.
"Oh, I love it. I love it. It's a lot of foot traffic now and I enjoy it now. They stop by to get a drink, a donut. I love it," said Larry Saroy, Judy's Donuts.
Larry Saroy said business has gone up nearly 10-percent so far. He said he stayed in his store, even in the slow years, because of his location. He's now optimistic about the future.
"It's going to be a boom right here. Best location in Clovis," said Saroy.
Next door, a new business, Impression Nails and Spa, is already seeing positive signs.
"Since Sprouts and Ross opened, just alone, last weekend we had a 25-percent increase in sales," said Ken Nguyen, Impression Nails and Spa.
The salon is now looking to hire to keep up to its new customers.
Real estate officials said there's more changes on the way for the Trading Post.
"We have signed leases with Sketchers, Pieology Pizza, Rubios, Tuesday Morning, AAA Insurance, Sprint," said Lewis Smith, Retail California Commercial Real Estate .
Sketchers and Tuesday Morning should be open this summer.
Also ahead, two separate buildings will be constructed along Herndon Avenue that will be the home of Pieology, Sprint, and AAA.
